What are artist trading cards?

Artist trading cards (or ATCs) are miniature works of art on card stock the size of sports trading cards. All techniques are allowed, and anybody can make one, or many. ATCs are signed, dated, and titled on the back, and then traded for ATCs made by others. All trades are one-for-one, and no money is ever exchanged.

Swiss artist M. Vanci Stirnemann began the idea in 1996 when he created and displayed 1200 ATCs in a gallery. When people wanted to buy one, he told them to come back with one they had made and he’d trade!

Since then, it has become a popular hobby all over the world.  The rules are simple, and the possibilities are endless. Learn more about ATCs....

Local artist Kristy Rooney will teach this class on Friday, January 27, 2012, from 2-3 p.m. All ages are welcome. Parents will need to supervise and assist young children.
