Circulation Policies

How to Get a Card

Applications for library cards are available at the Check Out Desk or the Information Desk. A form of identification (driver’s license, checkbook, evidence of mail received at current address, or student picture ID) is required before a library card is issued. Applications for children under 16 years of age must have their parent’s or guardian’s signature. Minnesota public library cards are valid at any public library in the state. Iowa residents may purchase a library card for an annual fee of $40.

Loan Periods and Fines

The loan period for all materials is 3 weeks. The fine rate for all materials is 25 cents per open day. The maximum fine per item is $10.00.

Bookdrops

Books may be returned at either the outside bookdrop, located east of the entrance, or the inside bookdrop, located on your right as you enter the library.

Checkout Policy
Patron borrowing privileges will be restricted at checkout if $10.00 or more in fines or fees is owed.

Lost Items
Lost items must be paid for in full with cash or a check. The library only accepts payment and not replacement for items that have been lost.

Renewals
To renew any item, bring the item to the Check Out Desk or call the library at 507-433-2391. Items may also be renewed from the IPAC by using the “My Account” feature. Items may be renewed up to 2 times if there are no requests for the title. If you are renewing items that are already overdue, then fines are charged for the overdue time period. Renewals for items loaned from other SELCO libraries are subject to that library’s renewal policy. Interlibrary loans from non-SELCO libraries may not be renewed.
