2009 Selection

Planning is now under way for the eighth annual Austin Page Turners citywide reading event to be held in Spring 2009. Each year, the planning committee reviews many titles and authors to chose the work of a Minnesota author that will appeal to readers in Austin, Minnesota, and the surrounding community. Past authors have included Tim O'Brien, Lorna Landvik, and Will Weaver. Do you have a title or author suggestion for the 2009 event? Let us know!

About the Austin Page Turners
The Austin Page Turners was formed in 2001 by then Austin, Minnesota, Mayor Bonnie Rietz. The initial planning committee consisted of community members who enjoyed reading and discussing books. Patterned after similar citywide reading programs in Seattle and Chicago, the committee decided to focus on choosing a Minnesota author’s work that would have broad appeal and bring the community together for a great discussion. Each year the featured author comes to Austin for a series of activities culminating with a community presentation in the evening. All events are free to the public unless otherwise indicated. The overwhelming popularity of the program is seen by the large number of book groups and individuals who read the book that is chosen for the event each year and who attend the various activities planned around the book.
